Tutorial plan for new students

At the beginning of the year, the Faculty management team hold a welcoming event for new students, attended by leading public authorities and student representatives.

During this event, the students are informed of the mission, vision and values of the management team in regards to the tertiary education services provided by the Faculty.

Students are also given details of the lecturer-tutor who will provide them with guidance during the course of their studies.

 

2014-2015 academic year:

A total of 16 lecturers have expressed their interest in carrying out the tutoring work proposed. In this academic year, a total of 42 students indicated that they were interested in having tutor support via the questionnaires handed out at the welcoming ceremony. The following table sets out the distribution of the tutors and their students (the names of the students have not been included to avoid data confidentiality issues):

- Mentoring:

In September 2014, a request was made for Recognition of Credits to recognise this activity for the students involved.

The Resolution of the Credit Recognition Committee 30/09/14 (ACTIVITIES) approved the following proposed activity:

Name of the activity: Mentor Project 2014-2015 Academic Year: guidance and mentoring activities, Faculty of Physics

Scheduled activities:

1) Group guidance talks: up to 25 hours (1 credit). In the Faculty facilities throughout the 2014-2015 academic year.

2) Meetings and follow-up guidance activities for each mentor-student team: up to 25 hours (1 credit), throughout the 2014-2015 academic year.

3) Other guidance and mentoring actions included in our Guidance and Tutorial Action Plan (POAT) throughout the 2014-2015 academic year. Up to 25 hours (1 credit).

Three students who were interested in carrying out these mentoring actions in the last academic year were contacted. They were responsible for proposing the activities presented in the ANNEX and have been carrying them out during the 2014-2015 academic year.
